Research and policy writing on AI governance and AI safety, with a focus on middle powers and the Southern Mediterranean. Published work and selected work in progress.

My research asks whether states that use frontier AI but do not build it can oversee it. I started with local governments in the Mediterranean: as a Globethics fellow I am building a framework for AI readiness and AI safety oversight, based on interviews with policymakers and technical experts in five sub-national governments. My next project takes the same question to middle powers. Earlier work covers comparative AI capacity assessment, AI and democratic values, youth skills, and civil society oversight.
