01 About A decade across the Euro-Mediterranean

AI governance and inclusive development practitioner across the Euro-Mediterranean

Mohamed is a Development Program Specialist and civil society expert with over a decade of experience driving impact across the Euro-Mediterranean region. He has co-designed, coordinated, and led high-impact scalable donor-funded portfolios for organizations such as USAID, the EU, UN agencies and others.

He has led and coordinated assessment, mapping, and situation analysis for firms, local governance bodies, and international organizations on development priorities. His work centers on advancing theories of change within democratic governance, inclusive economic growth, youth empowerment, local climate resilience, AI governance, and digital inclusion. He is a member of the Digital Infrastructure Investment (DII) Catalyser Working Group led by ITU.

Mohamed's work connects grassroots realities in Morocco and the Southern Mediterranean with regional and global debates on AI governance, digital inclusion, and democratic resilience.

As a speaker and advocate, Mohamed champions locally-led, data-informed solutions that bridge the gap between grassroots stakeholders, public institutions, and international partners. He founded and chairs EuroMedAI, a 35+ stakeholder network advocating for inclusive, safe AI across the Mediterranean. He holds a master's in project and program management from UIR Rabat, is pursuing a master's in data and artificial intelligence, and builds on a background in computer engineering.
